Very much in line with the AMAT quarterly Chirp, SEMI notes 3D NAND as a driver, along with China.  The implications, folks, are going to be coming down the line following this leading indicator.

“Bookings reached their highest levels in eight months and billings levels also significantly improved in April,” said Denny McGuirk, president and CEO of SEMI. “The data reflect strong investments in 3D NAND and in China.”

One can argue bullish (the stock market made such an argument today) and one can argue bearish (Fed tightening pressure) but one cannot argue that the Semi equipment sector has seen a big bump and is on the verge of a trend higher.

In 2013 we had a similar signal and it came well before the lagging economy caught on.
