April Payrolls increase by 428,000

You can get all the details of yet another strong BLS report by clicking the blurb:

Drilling into it we find Leisure and Hospitality leading the consumerist ‘services’ economy as usual. But look who’s also strong. That would be manufacturing, which is growing as noted in yesterday’s post, albeit at a slowing rate. That’s pretty good.

But a 12 month view of employment changes shows us who is and has been manning the rudder of the Good Ship Lollipop, Leisure and Hospitality (mopping up all that pent up, post-pandemic demand by Americans to get out there and sit on their asses at the bar, restaurant or vacation resort). That is and has been the trend since we went consumerist decades ago. In second place? More services.

Suffice it to day, Hazel’s job was secure (through April). Have a nice and relaxing day!
