The February BLS Payrolls Report shows a moderate miss vs. expectations
I don’t know whether to give Hazel a frown off this report, so I’ll keep that disgusting and winning smile on her face for now. The February BLS Payrolls report came in okay overall.

Here are the details (click for full report):
As for the sector breakdown, we find evidence that Hazel should actually be dropping the brave (and grotesque) face and realize that another month has gone by with her beloved Leisure and Hospitality Services segment in decline. Americans are realizing that life is not all rainbows and unicorns. This society is anything but leisurely and relaxed right now.
In the face of Trump, Musk and the DOGE doggie, Education & Health Services booms again, while the least productive segment of all, Government, continues to stay afloat (hey, I don’t calculate ’em, I just read ’em). In a vacuum (which is hard to do with all the daily noise coming out of the White House’s orifice) it’s another report in a long, slow decline toward an economic counter-cycle.
Unemployment continued to have based but not yet turned up strongly in February.
