June Payrolls Report checks in at +209,000 (expectations were 240,000)
Okay, so we can try to paint a little frown on Hazel’s face, although my artwork is no match for that downright creepy and disturbing perma-smile of hers.

Somewhat easing Hazel’s anxiety about the headline number, the Good Ship Lollipop’s vast services sectors (including tag-along construction and government services) once again did the lifting. Although you wouldn’t know it by America’s clogged highways this week, Leisure & Hospitality actually came in subdued. But this week is July and the report’s data were harvested during the rainiest June I’ve ever seen (here in the northeast, at least).
