My wife and I watched a cool documentary about Woodstock last weekend and we got hung up on Tim Hardin and his If I Were a Carpenter. She started YouTubing all the versions of this song by other artists. It was incredible; we spent the next hour listening to an array of versions from Bobby Darin to Jack Elliott to Robert Plant, there were some awesome covers. This Jack Elliott, especially, who I’ve never heard of, was really cool.
But the most awesome take was by Steve Marriott and the Small Faces. Unbelievable, this voice.
